Born in Uruguay, Alejandro Arnutti began drawing at the age of 4. At the age of 8, he attended the Drawing Workshop at the Casa de Cultura de Artigas – Uruguay. Since his adolescence, he has worked with his family in rice farming and livestock farming, but he never abandoned drawing, and the themes he portrayed were country life and dealing with animals and agriculture. Currently, the artist creates works on different platforms such as paper, canvas and sculptures, using various techniques such as charcoal, pastel and watercolor for paper, oil for canvas and murals, and resin for sculptures. Since the beginning of his career, and even before becoming a professional, Alejandro has created several works in "plein air" (observing scenes outdoors) and has also used photographs of his own and those of photographers from Rio Grande do Sul, Uruguay and Argentina, such as Eduardo Amorim, Eduardo Rocha, Eurico Salis, Fagner Almeida, Felipe Ulbrich, Tadeu Vilani, J. G. Martini, Luiz Fabini, Aldo Sessa and Daniel Sempé, as a starting point for his creations. However, as of 2022, the artist has also decided to dedicate himself to traveling and exploring the Pampas in the interior of RS, Uruguay and Argentina, visiting ranches and folk festivals in these countries to take photographs. Thus, he has become one of the few artists today to travel long distances to capture his photographs and to produce original works solely from his own photographs. Alejandro has works in private collections in countries such as Spain, England, the USA, Germany, Uruguay, Argentina and here in Brazil in cities in 5 states. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Salerno – Italy, Santa Fe – USA, Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento, José Ignacio, Punta del Este, Salto, Uruguaiana and Porto Alegre. His most important solo exhibitions are at the Museo San Fernando in Punta del Este and at the Memorial do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre. He has received important awards, such as Champion of the international competition “Encuentros del Arte Contemporaneo” in Punta del Este, and champion representing the functional region 06 of RS in the “Prêmio Trajetórias Culturais” (Cultural Trajectories Award) held by the Instituto Trocando Ideia in Porto Alegre, in addition to the “Prêmio Destaque nas Artes” (Outstanding in the Arts Award) from the Rotary Club Cruzeiro do Sul. Among his most important works are the work “Domingo na Praça” (Sunday in the Square), measuring 220 x 380 cm, permanently exhibited at the Municipal Theater of Uruguaiana “Rosalina Pandolfo Lisboa”, and the work “Retomada de Uruguaiana na Guerra do Paraguai” (Retaking of Uruguaiana in the Paraguayan War), measuring 305 x 735 cm, inaugurated in 2015 during the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the Retaking of Uruguaiana in the Paraguayan War (one of the most important moments of this war), and remains permanently exhibited in the Main Hall of the Municipal Government of Uruguaiana; the work was commissioned by the Municipal Government of Uruguaiana. This same City Hall also commissioned the painting of portraits of 2 former mayors for the Gallery of Former Mayors. In addition, Alejandro also painted 25 portraits of former mayors for the gallery of former mayors of the City Hall of Quarai – RS.
